David is President and Founding Partner of Idea Farm Ventures, a permanent capital consumer venture studio based in New York City. During a 20-year career in academia David was a tenured professor at the Wharton School where he held the the Xinmei Zhang and Yongge Dai Chaired Professorship and launched Wharton’s programs on digital marketing and e-commerce. An is an award-winning researcher and teacher, David also taught at MIT and UCLA.

David is author of Location is (Still) Everything: The Surprising Influence of the Real World on How We Search, Shop, and Sell in the Virtual One an authoritative book on how to win in the digital economy and a forthcoming book, The BOSS Model: How to Connect with Millennials and speaks globally for clients including Alibaba, Al-Futtaim, Google, Haier, Nike, and Ralph Lauren. David was an early investor in leading digital economy companies including Bonobos (acq. by Walmart for $310m), Diapers.com (acq. by Amazon for $545m), Harry’s ($1.0b), Jet.com (acq. by Walmart for $3.3b), and Warby Parker ($1.8b), among many others.

David holds a Ph.D. (Business) and an M.S. (Statistics) from Stanford University, as well as an M.Com. (1st Class) and B.Com. from the University of Auckland. He is a New Zealand citizen and U.S. Permanent Resident and lives in New York City.
