It’s shipping…made simple. How often do you hear that these days? Well if you’re a customer of Shippit you would be living this motto daily. Today we have stolen 5 minutes of time from the Director of Shippit, Rob Hango-Zada and chat about all things wins, challenges and the future of retail.

What has been the best part of your role to date?
Stemming from a love for retail and passion for simplification, the best part of my role was creating something that didn’t exist. The online retail industry is vibrant and inspiring. Having the opportunity to partner with entrepreneurial retailers is something that I don’t underestimate the importance of.
Working with such strong personalities has really inspired the work that we do at Shippit, driving us to continuously push the envelope and to refine our product.

What has been the greatest challenge of your role thus far?
The greatest challenge I’ve faced is the stress of wearing many hats in the early stages of our business. It’s a tough act to balance. Keeping our retail partners happy, working with couriers, managing staff, developing strategy, managing cash flow and driving the business forward all at the same time was a really stressful experience for Will and I in the early stages of Shippit.

What has been your best day in the office?
Our best day in the office was when we celebrated our 1 millionth delivery booked on the platform. It was a significant milestone for the team here at Shippit.

Second to that was our most recent team event where we mapped out our customer journey and put this onto canvas at a graffiti workshop. From checking out, to picking and packing to handling returns, it was great to see everyone envisioning what it’s truly like to be a retailer and creating the key customer stages in their own eyes.

What excites you about the future of retail?
The future of commerce is exciting, full stop. Being part of the team that will shape how consumers interact with retail brands is the part that inspires me most. We’re redefining and improving the way we ship and receive the things we love and need, and striving to improve experiences for consumers across Australia and the world.
